Knox Nursery’s Elephant Ear Program 2004

 

 

Knox provides liners of Elepant Ears for early Spring Sales.  Order early and pot up into retail containers for a real moneymaker.  The liners come in two sizes; the GallonBuster™ and 3201 flats.  GallonBusters™ can be potted into 1 or 3 gallon containers or they can be displayed for retail sales directly.  3201 flats can be potted into Quarts or 1 gallon containers.  Elephant Ears are easy to grow, they require heat, water and low light.

                                                                                                                            

We ship all over the country via Fed Ex, UPS, or common carrier.  Time of year shipping depends on weather conditions.   40 GallonBustersfitper box while 4 flats of 32 in the 3201 size container.   Please call for availability.

Upright Elephant Ear

This Elephant Ear is dramatically different. Rigid stems hold up glossy green large leaves.  The plant can reach from 10 to 15 feet in height and will survive 0 degrees.  It is also suitable and makes quite an impression as an indoor plant. 

Zone 6-10.

The dusty solid purple black leaves to 2' long make this elephant ear one of the most spectacular forms ever introduced. THIS HARDY ELEPHANT EAR WILL LOOK FANTASTIC IN ANY GARDEN!  Can be used as a bog plant, too!  Height:  5-6'; Spread: 5-6'; Zones 7b-10.

This black leaved elephant ear has dramatic green veins, highlighting the black background. Imperial Taro has proven hardy below 0 degrees F.  Height: 3'; Spread 3'; Zones 7-10.

Dwarf Silver Elephant Ear

Unlike most other elephant ears, this light shade and moisture lover forms rounded leaves of velvety medium green, each highlighted by a wide silver streak down the center vein, then smaller silver veins radiating from the center to the leaf edge. 18" tall.

 Black Stem Elephant Ear

The giant purple black stems rise to nearly 7'. At the end of each stem sits a giant green heart-shaped leaf (to 3' long) with a shiny black cast. In late summer, the plant is home to yellow flowers to 12" long with a fragrance of papayas.  Height: 80"; Spread 4'; Zones 7b-10.

Dwarf Stripped Elephant Ear

Charcoal leaf face with central charcoal veining, and a giant silver blotch in the center of each leaf. 18" tall shade and moisture loving.  Plants are adorned with small yellow flowers throughout summer.  Height: 18"; Spread: rapid via rhizomes; Zones 8-10.  Sun or shade.
